"Who is The Greatest?"
Mark 9:33 - 35 (NIV)
After they arrived at Capernaum and settled in a house, Jesus asked his disciples, "What were you discussing out on the road?" But they didn't answer, because they had been arguing about which of them was the greatest. He sat down(to teach them), called the twelve disciples over to him, and said, "WHOEVER WANTS TO BE FIRST MUST TAKE LAST PLACE AND BE THE SERVANT OF EVERYONE ELSE." Then he put a child among them. Taking the child in his arms, he said to them, Anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me welcomes not only me but also my Father who sent me."
If you missed Minister Deborah A. Williamson, Guest Speaker at Pastor Brown's appreciation luncheon you missed some good food for the soul. Anyone who desires to be first must be last of all AND SERVANT OF ALL. How do you do it? By being HUMBLE. Always showing HUMILITY WITH EVERYONE even those who are considered to be in a different social class. Having ambition is not wrong but when it pushes aside obedience and service, it becomes sin. We must renounce pride and status seeking. SERVING OTHERS is a REAL LEADERSHIP. A real leader has a servant's heart. Servant leaders appreciate others' worth and realize that they're not above any job. Don't approach life expecting high positions, honors, and special privileges. Look instead for ways to help others. Jesus taught the discipless to welcome the children and not treat them as second-class citizens. Children's ministries should never be regarded as less important than those for adults.
